Film director and producer creating vibrant content that sparks the imagination and uplifts audiences of all ages. My goal is to make grownups daydream like they are kids again.

Philip has collaborated on feature films and digital shorts, commercials, music videos, and branded content across all media platforms. There is nothing more powerful than connecting with your audience through film; the visceral experience is as important to me as the story structure. My goal is to tell stories that affect an audience, conjure an emotion, and inspire growth. Stories unite people and bring out the best in us; I believe in an inclusive work space and equal opportunity for all promising creatives to thrive.

STRENGTHS

  • Strong art direction and brand strategy experience. Actionable ideation with creators and writers, drafting storyboards and animatics with artists; clearly conveying vision to department heads. Poised approach collaborating with on-set and editorial teams. Industry contacts include managers and talent agents.

  • Assembling reputable cross-functional teams; managing project goals and narrative scope; implementing post-production timelines and workflows. Fluent in editorial, VFX, graphics, color and sound design. Excellent asset management and deliverables on schedule.

  • Ability to identify and develop emerging talent. Example: I realized a media campaign for Shamir, which incorporated his debut single, an award-winning music video (YouTube Video Awards) and multiple articles (Rolling Stone, The New Yorker), spawning a movement of proud gender-fluid artists.

I have also worked with high-profile talent such as Anna Kendrick, Rob Corddry, Dave Grohl, Ben Folds and Style Rookie Tavi Gevinson.

  • Pitch deck and Storyboards (Photoshop and InDesign), Production (Microsoft Office and Google Suites), Post-Production (Premiere, Final Cut, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Logic and Audacity)

COLLABORATORS

BIG PICTURE

  • Dig

A young boy must dig to China to reunite with his lost love, and encounters an unexpected world of characters on his adventure underground. The short film received a Vimeo Staff Pick, and the concept is in development at The Walt Disney Studios.

  • Ben Folds Five

Two iconic musical acts collide for a reunion music video, when Ben Folds Five are joined by the Fraggle Rock puppets, who are stirred to life after 30 years below the rocking recording studio. Anna Kendrick and Rob Corddry star in this Jim Henson Company Production.

  • Los Angeles

A series about the history and culture of LA. From the city’s oldest Athletic Club to a 1960’s Pop-Art Nun, the short films document the people that shape the city today, and how architecture leaves a blueprint for us to trace back the lives of those few trailblazers.

  • Cowboy

A Wyoming horse whisperer seeks uncommon methods to rehabilitate his friends through acts of courage taming a heard of wild colts. The message of hope and healing resonates beyond the subjects of the documentary, which has reached a wide, engaged audience.

  • Puppetry

Puppets hold a dear place in my heart. I am particularly excited when they are coupled with human actors and personalities, like so many of our favorite children’s shows. Where we forget which is reality, and are reminded of what it means to be pure of heart.

  • Snapchat

Fritz n’ Friends is about a lovable monster who navigates friendships in this heartwarming series featuring a cast of colorful puppets - and a special lady friend, too. This is the first show to debut on Snapchannel, and received 80 million views an episode.

  • Shamir

Stuck in a humdrum world, Shamir turns into a puppet and heads on a wild adventure through the desert with his furry friends, only to discover that a simple life is all he ever needed. This award-winning music video for Call It Off is a breakout piece for the artist.

  • Foo Fighters

A fan favorite, this contest-winning music video sends Dave Grohl as a puppet into space to conquer his greatest fears. Upon landing on an evil planet, he discovers his soul mate has been captured by a monstrous sock puppet… only the band can save them now!

  • Streaming

Bad Sports is about more than just DC high school burnout athletes making their own show in a suburban basement filled with beers and bad behavior, it is also about serious stuff, like building a fanbase. Miles Fisher and comedians team up on this comedy web show.

  • Performance

Filming on stage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, we covered the Jabbawokeez dance routine from beginning to end: their live performance harnessed an energy with the audience, and served as insight into which highlights to cover in a day of close-ups.

  • Live Events

The power of music plays well accompanied by custom video art, projected live, to underscore the songs of the band. I have created concerts of projections that have screened on stages globally. My recent collaboration with Brett was a highlight on their tour through China.

  • BTS

A behind-the-scenes look at the BMW 328 Homage concept car that turned heads on set and at its world premiere in Switzerland. Documenting the photo crew at work in the California desert and back in a Los Angeles studio, our small video team blends right in.
